Vintage Cocktails by Narrative Mercantile
It’s 5 o’clock. Work sucks. You deserve a drink. Narrative Mercantile has the perfect recipe for vintage cocktails.
INGREDIENTS:
1 Beat-up old buffet/hutch/credenza. The closer to looking to have come from a dumpster, the better.
1 Large 48 State flag. Because Alaska is cold and we can’t afford to get to Hawaii anyway. Moth holes are a plus.
1 Framed Universite de Montreal faculty photo from 1934. I guess they hadn’t heard about gender equality yet?
1 Paul Clark. Club Manager sign from when my grandpa was bar manager at the Moose Lodge.
1 Tattered old pennant. Got to rep the hometown.
1 Crystal decanter from Mom. Because we here at Narrative love our moms and they have cool stuff.
1 Rusty “Bar” sign. Just in case after a few drinks in, you forget.
1 1934 Chicago World’s Fair platter. Because Chicago is the best city in the world.
4 Etched glasses from Grandma’s house.
1 Silver-plated ice bucket.
1 Set of elk antlers (skip for vegetarian and vegan guests).
2 Junky broken guitars (preferably missing multiple strings). So you convince everyone that you REALLY do play the guitar.
1 Bronze Davy Crockett bank.
1 Ferrari Hotwheels car (found in the alley). Because you’ll never own the real thing.
Assemble vintage cocktails ingredients, making sure to achieve visual balance. Create higher and lower statements, and be sure to have some larger items for scale. Liberally add your preferred spirits to taste. Drink. Repeat. And remember to visit us at Vintage Garage! Always the 3rd Sunday in Uptown.
