Increase in Vintage Shoppers Expected
It's quickly becoming a third-Sunday-in-the-summer tradition, as Vintage Garage Chicago returns for a follow-up to its successful July run. Scores of vintage shoppers are expected for the second market in on Uptown August 20, 2017.
Held in a parking garage in Uptown, the July market saw lines form throughout the day. Visitors could see chairs, lamps, clothing and accessories leave the market headed for homes and apartments throughout the city and beyond.
The event brought serious vintage shoppers, as well as the curious.
"We opened up the vintage world to a lot of new people who maybe hadn't been serious about vintage shopping previously," says promoter Melissa Sands. "Chances are, they're hooked."
Sands says vintage is enjoying a staying surge of popularity because it's green, sustainable and local.
"Plus things were often just made better then," she says.
