As we prepare for the Sands (Griswold) family Christmas, I thought we'd share some of our very favorite Christmas vintage. Jim and I collect all year round. We look everywhere for special pieces for our collection. Many pieces this year came from Vintage Garage Chicago. We usually spend our holidays at home here in Highwood. Watch a lot of movies and eat a lot of cookies.
It's the perfect time to say how grateful we are for the vendors, customers and how so many have become friends.
Our Christmas vintage collection grows each year and moves into different categories like Santa, elves, angels etc. Enjoy some bits of our collections straight from the living room!
The tree! The bulbs we found by a now defunct company called The Christmas Gallery so we are always on the look out. Below see a few close ups of those and clip on vintage mushroom ornaments and some sputnik starburst 1960's ornaments.
Since we moved to Chicago, I am always on the hunt for vintage Christmas gift boxes from Marshall Field, Carson and anyone else with great graphics. I always wonder what fabulous gift came inside the box. I could see the box being as important as what is inside! See below for a better shot.
One of our favorite finds this year was this deer coated in really heavy glitter. Never seen anything like it. It's old glitter too, like metal. You can see a better full shot of him below.
Various awesome sets here. Holt Howard Santa salt and pepper set. 3 small pinecone clowns, Lefton Santa and Mrs. Claus shakers. Elves shakers. In the background you'll see a Lefton sled. One of my favorite holiday finds from Shytown Girl Vintage at Vintage Garage Chicago are the cool Santa head salt and peppers. The hand painted details on the faces of these are just great.
