CHICAGO–It’s quickly becoming a third Sunday in the summer tradition as Vintage Garage Chicago returns for a follow-up to its successful June run. Scores are expected for the second vintage market in Uptown July 15.
Held in a parking garage, the June debut of the market saw lines form throughout the day. Visitors could see chairs, lamps, clothing and accessories leave the market headed for homes and apartments throughout the city and region.
The event brought both the serious vintage shopper and the curious.
“We opened up the vintage world to a lot of new people who maybe hadn’t been serious about vintage shopping previously,” says promoter Melissa Sands. “Chances are they’re hooked.”
Sands says vintage is enjoying a staying surge of popularity because it’s green, sustainable and local.
“Plus things were often just made better then,” she says.
