A vintage style ride will kick off the 2013 season of Vintage Garage Chicago April 21. Alderman Harry Osterman of the 48th Ward and event promoters expect hundreds of bicyclists dressed in vintage to descend on the neighborhood that day.
“A bike ride is the best way to celebrate the arrival of spring,” says Melissa Sands of Vintage Promotions, LLC, producer of the show. “And wearing vintage for the ride is a great way to launch the season of fun and finds in the Vintage Garage.”
The ride will begin at 11 a.m. at 5051 N Broadway, at the Vintage Garage for a ride the neighborhood. Ample bike parking will be available and anyone dressed head-to-toe in vintage will receive free admission into the event.
Participants can also have their photo taken with their bike by the Vintage Garage Chicago photographer and be eligible to win a $50 gift certificate to spend in the garage.
Vintage bicycles and accessories will also be on display and for sale at the event.
“Since its start one year ago, Vintage Garage Chicago has been an exciting addition to the Uptown and Argyle Street area,” says Alderman Harry Osterman. “Join me to kick off another great season with the style ride. We’ll make a few stops along the way to discuss exciting biking initiatives and infrastructure coming to our community.”
