With space for at least 100 dealers, Vintage Garage Chicago is the city’s most exciting venue for buying and selling vintage and antique merchandise. Located at  5051 N. Broadway between Foster and Argyle in Uptown, the event is in easy reach of bus and transit. The hours are 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Admission is $5.

What is the Vintage Garage Chicago?

The Garage is in Uptown neighborhood of Chicago that takes place in an empty 6 story, covered parking garage. 75 to 100 vendors sell vintage goods each month.

Third Sunday of the month, April through October 10am to 5pm

What is sold at Vintage Garage?

Mainly vintage and antiques. Most of the items you will find are at least 25 years old. If a vendor has a new product that seems like it would fit our crowd, with approval ahead, we will allow 20% of a booth be new or handmade items.

Who can sell items at the Garage?

Anyone with vintage items to sell. You don’t have to be an “official” business to sell your vintage at the Garage. If you have acquired an estate and need to liquidate it, the Vintage Garage is a great place to do it. If you are new and have never sold before we are happy to answer any questions you may have and to help you get started. Vendors are required to collect and pay sales tax.

What sort of customer is shopping at the Garage?

Over 60 percent of our audience are women and the most popular age group is 24 to 44. Men make up over 30% of the Garage customer and the majority are from the 24 to 44 age group. 75 percent of our customers live on the North end of Chicago within a 10 mile radius or along the CTA Red Line which stops less than a block from us at Argyle. 25 percent travel in from other areas.

What’s with your themes every month?

Each month has a theme. If you pick up records periodically, bring them in addition to your regular merchandise in June and October. If you don’t have any, don’t worry about it. Some of the themes include music that fits the theme. It doesn’t mean you have to specialize in one of the themed areas. Or even bring anything. It’s just fun. Dress the part if you want. If you are coming to shop, just because it’s Record Ramp doesn’t mean your vendors with clothing and jewelry or other items won’t be there. A theme is just an added bonus.

What are customers buying ?

We have found that when the season starts in April, “smalls” are very popular and as the season progresses, items get larger. Apartment sized pieces are popular as is Mid Century all season long. During the Record Ramp themed events we find music related items, records, instruments, CDs and that type of item is popular. It can take a bit to carve out your niche and build a customer base at the Garage. As more and more people find out about us what customers will buy will evolved and change.

What sort of items do vendors that are successful at the market sell?

Vendors who bring a good variety of items will do the best. Someone who carries all price ranges. We have vendors who specialize in “guy stuff” who are extremely successful and those who sell clothing and kitsch do very well also. Unique items to decorate the home do great.

How much does it cost?

$160.00 per show. $150.00 if paid the day before the show at 3 p.m.

What happens on the day of the show?

All vendor spaces are pre-assigned so on the day of the show vendors line up at the entrance at 6:30 am. We lead you to your space where you can pull your vehicle in and start setting up immediately. We open the doors at 10 a.m. We sell from 10am to 5pm. At 5pm you pack your vehicle with what’s left, wait your turn to pull out, go home and count your profits! We try to make things extremely easy for a fun and productive day.
